Founder/CEO, shār
Peter Rushford
The idea for Shār was sparked in 2013 when Peter started looking for healthy trail mix snack that tasted amazing. Unfortunately, every version he tried was bland, unhealthy, or both. After 3 years, 900 hours, and 52 iterations, he landed on 9 incredible ingredients with just the right combination of flavors, textures, and proportions. He then spent 12 months making sure that each was organic and responsibly sourced from small family-owned farms all crafted together to create an orchestra of flavors and a symphony of textures to make what we proudly called an “impossibly good snack”. That led us to the creation of our plastic free ‘shār tube’ made from recycled paper that is recyclable, biodegradable, and refillable. These efforts have led to Shār receiving the Good Food Award which recognizes snacks for their taste and for their commitment to environmental, social, and business ethics as well as the International Pentawards Silver medal in the Sustainable Design Category, one of the most prestigious packaging design awards in the world.
